Land donors ask for special consideration
ITANAGAR, Dec 14: The land donors of Apop, Apop Sango, and Sangring villages in a joint meeting held at Tani Happa on December 10 under the banner of Tani Happa Land Donor Development Committee (New Sagalee) expressed dismay saying that they are being neglected in all fronts by the Govt.
In the meeting attended by GBs, village elders, youth and women of three villages, the speakers opined that the people of three villages had selflessly donated the land free of cost to the government for town extension, but after donating the said land the villagers are being neglected in all fronts. The house unanimously resolved that before implementation of the any developmental schemes, sanctioning of big projects (like establishment of hospital, school, and Govt departmental offices), the implementing agency should consult the committee and the land donors should be given special consideration in terms of contract works or Govt employment. If the Govt fails to provide contract works and job to land donors, it should either pay compensation to the land donors or vacate the donated land, the committee said.
APMC checking drive
ITANAGAR, Dec 14: The officers and officials of the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC), Yupia will conduct checking drive in the markets of Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa with effect from Dec 16. NPF urged to defer bandh
ITANAGAR, Dec 14: The Don Bosco College Students’ Council has urged the Nyishi People’s Forum (NPF) to defer its proposed 12 hours Capital bandh in December 18 next.

ITANAGAR, Dec 14: The Arunachal Vikas Parishad expressed deep sorrow over the sad demise of Kipa Menia, mother of Kipa Babu, Deputy Chief Councilor of Itanagar Muncipal Council. She died on 12th December in an accident near her residence at Papu Nallah, Naharlagun. She was very active and laborious despite old age. She was running a small shop near the house.

ITANAGAR, Dec 14: A team of the Nyishi People’ Forum (NPF) has visited the land management branch at DC office yesterday and called on the Land Revenue and Settlement Officer, Capital Complex Takam Titus and sought clarification on the cost of land allotment application form. Satisfied with explanation and genuineness of the LRSO’s activity the Forum has withdrawn its demand regarding the cost of application form. However NPF reiterated its rest of the demands that production of PRCs and land allotment certificates should not be made compulsory while obtaining ST certificate by indigenous tribal people of the state.
The Forum further advocated for the posting of sufficient clerical staff and also urged the authority to process the all land allotment cases.
AAPWU KK unit for disbursement of labour wages
ITANAGAR, Dec 14: Claiming that the workers of Payu/Kush section, department of hydro power development, Koloriang has not been paid their wages for the past four months, the All Arunachal Pradesh Workers’ Union (AAPWU) Kurung Kumey unit has appealed the concern authority for immediate disbursement of the wages.

Rao assures adequate fund for development of handloom sector
MoU signed to encourage weavers in state
ITANAGAR,Dec.14: An MoU under the Revival Reform Restructuring (RRR) Package scheme of GoI, Ministry of Textiles was signed in the presence of Union Minister of Textiles Dr. K.S. Rao here today at Banquet hall. The MoU was signed by Development Commissioner (Handloom), Govt. of India and Secretary (Handloom & Textiles), Govt. of AP and NABARD, for waiving of outstanding loan to sick handloom units to encourage weavers & cooperative societies to revitalise.
Addressing the officers on the occasion, the Union Minister while underlining the importance of skill development for any state to prosper, said that his ministry is ready to provide fund promptly for development of the handloom sector. The UPA chairperson had also asked him to give special attention to encourage the weavers of the state.

Earlier, people in South India and other states in the plains did not know much about our state. But now with our young boys and girls working in their states and thus becoming de facto brand ambassadors of Arunachal Pradesh, we are now better known besides our youth carving out livelihoods for themselves”, he said, in a lighter vein.

Wild beasts spotted in D’ Ering Wildlife Sanctuary

PASIGHAT, Dec 14: The Daying Ering Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary, which is known as hub of rich diversity of wild beasts has been reviving in recent past due to intensified monitoring and patrolling in and around the sanctuary. This Sanctuary, which is a hub of all natural bounties as tributaries of mighty Siang and Sibiya rivers flowing down from the northern hill site providing a model habitat of wildlife to thrive. The forest supports habitat of animals like Cheetal, Hog Deer, Chamber, Nilgai, Wild Boar, Water Buffalos, Leopard, Panther, Langur and Elephants besides various rare and endangered bird species. The sanctuary is reported to be home of an endangered species of vultures.
The recent WWF camera trappings reveal that Hog deer, Chambar, Hare, elephants and many species of herbivorous are thieving freely in the sanctuary. It also trapped movement of some carnivorous animals in the sanctuary during the night hours.
It is observed that domesticated cattle regularly enter the sanctuary from its lower part (Assam side) during the dry season, which sometimes create problem for the herbivorous animals in grazing of grass and spreading FMD.
The authority of D’Ering WLS has prohibited illegal trespassing of human beings inside the sanctuary by enhancing regular patrolling and surveillance. The department officials claimed that the sanctuary has been gradually reviving after hunting and poaching were presumably restricted to some extent since last two years. They have chalked out strategy to protect the wild beasts from hunting. The limited forester staffs are guarding the river routes from all corners during night hours.
The wildlife sanctuary, located in East Siang district, covers an area of 190 sq km. erstwhile Lali Reserve Forest, by government notification vide No. FOR/284/ 76/ 2 dated 23/10/1976 was declared as Lali Wildlife Sanctuary. Later it was renamed as D’Ering Wildlife Sanctuary in October 1986. The sanctuary is surrounded by tributaries of Siang and Sibiya rivers on three sides and covers the alluvial flood prone chars of both the rivers.

The Divisional Forest Officer (WL), Pasighat informed that proposal for erection of wire fencing covering lower (Assam) part of the sanctuary, which is yet to sanction by the department of Environment & Forest. The department officials are optimistic that if the proposal is approved and funds provided, several measures would be implemented to save the sanctuary from unabated human interference besides entry of domesticated cattle in the sanctuary.

He said that people were cheated earlier by some hawkers by selling spurious honey and ghee as home product and pure. He also desired that selling of such kind of spurious goods is banned.
Expressing satisfaction on demonstration on hallmarking of gold and silver jewellery, Manju Lata, JT D EDM Govt. H. S. School wants that hallmarking facility is made available in Pasighat so that people could buy quality ornaments. She also feels that LPG cylinder is delivered after proper weighment by the dealer.
After taking some tips on possibilities of coulouring the food items like dal, rice etc, she wants that the concern department encourage selling of unpolished one.
Visiting the Exhibition, S. K. Singh, PET cum Scout Master while expressing his satisfaction said that he was impressed mostly on demonstration of food adulteration as most of the items were new to him. He also expressed his realization how misleading advertisements are being given in print or electronic media like TV, paper, magazine etc and appreciated Legal Metrology department for educating people on such matters. ‘People should not be easily swayed by such advertisement. We need to be careful from today,’ he added.
With the support of both Principal and Vice Principal DEM Govt. H. S. School, Pasighat fifteen students of their school mostly from class XII science were trained one day ahead and engaged them as the demonstrator for two days. J. N. Paul, JT DEM Govt. H. S. ITANAGAR, Dec 14: East Kameng can be promoted and marketed for Adventure & Cultural tourism since the district has vast untapped resources available with rivers and hills full of fishes, flora & fauna with large percentage of indigenous people still living in the rural village in primitive stage devoid of modern amenities like power, health, communication health etc. With this belief, the Arunachal Pradesh Society for Education & Development (APSED) and Arunachal Discover Paradise Tours (ADPT) took up up vigorous exercises to map few trekking routes in the district leading to the rural villages and other places of interests.
Accordingly one team scaled the Tungte Siti, a hot spring water flowing at the upstream of Kameng river. It was a six days (to & fro 12 days trek) vigorous foot march from Marjingla of Khenewa circle, East Kameng District. The team led by APSED president Vijay Sonam started the trekking from Marjingla (50 kms away from Seppa) on November 26 last and reached Tungte Siti on Dec 2 afternoon.
Tungte Siti is associated with the legends of two brothers. It is an interesting place where various kinds of birds and animals gathered in large numbers to drink the salty water. The main objective of the trekking was to document the birds that were reported to be killed by the villagers in hundreds with a bamboo stick but sadly at the time of the arrival the bird season has gone.

In a release, it said, the government should not sit with its hand in pocket but try to come forward with some kind of consolation in the form of monetary compensation for the deceased’s family or give appointment to his widow on compassionate ground.
There has been number of instances when the government has given financial compensation and even compassionate appointments, however, in his particular case, government has totally ignored. Such attitude by the state government is humiliating and discriminating, it said urging for appointment of the widow of late Bater Koyu on compassionate ground.
Moreover, no proper investigation has been done and no departmental official have visited the aggrieved family which is highly regrettable.
From the incident, it has been revealed that there is no discipline in PTC, Dergaon, our government should contemplate on this issue too, it suggested.

ITANAGAR, Dec 14: A consumer awareness campaign for propagating the message of consumerism was organized by the Papum Pare unit of the Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Affairs at Naharlagun yesterday. A large number of people including Councillors, public leaders, Govt officials, traders and media personnel attended the programme.
In her address, chief councillor Higio Aruni appreciated the Department for its continued efforts to propagate the ideals of consumerism and urged the people to be alert while making any purchase. Elaborating the role and duties of Councillors, traders and the citizens in general, she urged everyone to be vigilant and to cooperate with the administrative machineries for development of the society.

District level monitoring committee meeting held
KHONSA, Dec 14: The district level monitoring committee meeting of Tirap district was held at DC’s conference hall, Khonsa on 13th December. While welcoming the participants, Tirap DC Kamlesh Kumar Joshi asked the executing agencies to strictly adhere to the guidelines and the specifications in order to maintain the quality of work and urged the officers not to compromise on the quality of work. NAHARLAGUN, Dec 14: Capital Complex Sporting Club (CCSC) emerged as champion of the
2nd Nyari Welly Memorial (Women) Football Tournament defeating Kurung Kumey 3-
Capital girls started the match with positive approach, but it was the crowd favorites Kurung kumey who took the lead in the 21st minute through Bengia Mercy. The goal was created by Tao Anu with her fine pass. Shocked by the goal CCSC tried hard and got an opportunity to equalize with a free kick which was wasted by Techi Amin. However CCSC got its equalizer through their Skipper Tako Baby with a delightful chip over (KK) keeper Tai Yalum standing bemused before the break.
The second half saw some spirited performance by the CCSC players. They displayed some attacking football and dominated the proceedings. Yalum once again denied the CCSC skipper by thwarting her attempt in the 51st minute. But CCSC were rewarded for their constant pressure in the rival goal and took the lead through Tako Baby once again, five minutes later. The goal came as result of a powerful free kick taken by Techi Amin which was dropped by KK keeper in front of goalmouth, taking the advantage Baby slotted home. Roshni Ramching added the third goal and sealed the faith of the game in favor of CCSC.
Kati Tayeng, Techi Amin and Roshni Ramching all from CCSC were awarded Best Goalkeeper, Highest Scorer and Best Player respectively. The winners of the 2nd Nyari Welly Memorial (Women) Football Tournament pocketed the amount of Rupees Seventy Five Thousand and the runners up team with Rupees Thirty Five Thousand each.
The Final was attended by Higio Aruni, Chief Councilor (IMC) as the Chief Guest and Tadar Apa, Astt. Director Sports & Youth Affaires, as the Guest of honor. Later, they also distributed the prizes to all the winners. Among others, Tarh Nachung, Gungte Tugung, both Standing Committee Member (IMC), Kipa Takum, Councillor (IMC) also attended the final.
Reacting to the result, Jill Gyamar, Dist. Sports Officer, Kurung Kumey, expressed his satisfaction over the performance of the team and promised for better performance next time.
